The W7VJ Multi/Single Contest Team Consists Of:
W7VJ – Andrew Isar
Andrew was first licensed on October 5, 1970 after the thrill of talking to others over long distances captivated his thoughts. He received WN3PMI courtesy of his Elmer, W3IYI (sadly a SK), in Indiana, PA at the age of 14. He was on the air with a HW-16 and dipole, graduating to a Yaesu FT dx 560 and FL 2100 as a general and advanced class. Other rigs later included a Kenwood TS 180, Heath SB line, and Icom 751.
Other calls have included WA3PMI, KB7SC, KT7W, NR6I, and NN7L.
W7RG – John Pitts
John is one of the original members of the Team. Beginning more than ten years ago, John, AA7CQ, and W7VJ began operating the CQ World Wide CW as an annual event. John has developed station design concepts for improved efficiency and contributed to the overall improvements in the station and operations over the years.
AA7CQ – Ron Fargo
Ron is the consummate low band guru. He is the second original Team member. Ron has achieved remarkable low band results by making the station meet its operational potential including amazing Asia run totals on 40 and 80, while pulling out the most amazing multipliers on 80 and 160. Ron was able to work Zone 18 on 80, not an easy feat from the Pacific Northwest. Thanks to Ron, the rest of us rest up for daytime operation.
WL7E – R. ‘Joe’ Jeffries
Joe is a QSO machine. Once in the operating chair, he single-mindedly milks the bands and keeps going. His dedication made a major contributed to our operating results. Joe joined the Team in 2008 with the WPX, and has helped with tower work between contests. He is a long time contester and one of the driving forces behind the KL7Y multi-multi efforts of years past; a welcome addition to the team.
K7OKS – Lynn Neece
Lynn is the station engineer and one-man support system. Lynn, a former technical engineer at Rockwell Collins, and now at Boeing, has been responsible for station design and implementation. Among his major achievements at the station is the implementation of a complex relay system that enables providing maximum flexibility between operating positions. Lynn provides much needed culinary and technical support during contests, and is one of the phone multiplier station operators.
K0PJ – Greg Deuhs
Greg is a new team member and serves as our second night time operator with AA7CQ. Greg has operated at numerous mid-west stations and from his former Wisconsin QTH. Put Greg in front of a radio, and he is focused. Joining us at the WPX CW in 2008, Greg is a welcome addition to the team.
N7NM – Doug
Doug joined the team in 2009 and has rounded out the team. Doug is a consistent and focused operator who digs deep to find new ones.
K7OG – Don
Don has added a more technical dimension to the team. Beyond his general enthusiasm and positive attitude, he has refined some of the networking and computer aspects of the station.
Guest operators have included: N6MZ of BS7H fame, DL9NEI, K6NR, KL2A, K9JF, W7ZZ, and NN7L.
